High Net Worth Market Share Report (annual)
The high net worth (HNW) segment (households with total financial assets of at least $1 million) has become a priority for most financial institutions in Canada. The HNW segment controls over 60% of all financial wealth in Canada, and is projected to increase in size and control an ever-larger share of total wealth.
As financial institutions increase their focus on the HNW segment, greater emphasis is placed on understanding their current penetration and market share of the HNW segment—overall and across delivery channels. Companies are looking to answer the questions: How many relationships do we as an organization have with HNW households and their corresponding assets? What is our share of this market overall and across delivery channels? How do we rank against our competitors?
Investor Economics has developed a proprietary methodology that assists financial institutions in quantifying the relationships they have with HNW households. We employ a top-down approach for each distribution channel: private investment counsel, full-service brokerage, branch direct, branch advice, financial advisors, online brokerage and personal trust. We then utilize specific industry knowledge and expertise to customize the assumptions for clients to arrive at their HNW market share (assets and households)—overall, across distribution channels, and within their competitive set. Clients also receive market share ranking within their peer/competitor group.
The High Net Worth Market Share Report is a natural extension of Investor Economics’ seminal Share of Wealth Market Report, as it takes aggregate wealth by channel and then extends the ‘lens’ to the HNW segment.
